Pordoi is a pass in the Dolomites in the Alps, located between the Sella group in the north and the Marmolada group in the south. The views as you go up the cable car are pretty spectacular. The journey is very quick. There is a lot of loose rock at the top of the mountain and very steep drops.

The cable car Funivia Pass Pordoi is for most people a very convenient way to get within an hours walk of the highest peak in Sella group, the Piz Boe. I used it to descent to give my knees a rest. The 4 min glide down is almost too short to enjoy the panorama but is certainly more comfortable than a 40 min knee crunching walk.

We parked the car in the pass and took the cable car up to 2950 m height, return ticket 18 euro. Cable car is very modern, big and very stable during movement, takes few minutes to get up.. The cable car leaves the Passo Pordoi every ten minutes and the ascent lasts about seven minutes. the views on the way up are spectacular particularly.
